The Legend of Heroes: Trails into Reverie Review

The Legend of Heroes: Trails into Reverie is one of the best games in this almost 20-year-old franchise and a great RPG. While its overall story is a bit of a retread, its amazing pacing, and in-depth battle system, make it a satisfying conclusion to the Crossbell and Cold Steel arcs. It also makes good use of its admittedly way-too-large cast of playable characters. That said, newcomers who are unfamiliar with the series will certainly be lost without having played the previous games. However, it's well worth doing so in order to experience one of the best RPG universes ever crafted.

Star Ocean: The Divine Force Video Review

The Divine Force isn’t necessarily a standout in this long-running series, but it is a much more successful effort to bring Star Ocean into the modern age than its predecessor. The revamped battle mechanics do wonders for its previously limited combat system, offering more freedom and flexibility than ever before. The main cast of characters is also charming, even if the world they are exploring and the animations that accompany them are far less captivating. I wish its interface issues were less obnoxious, but even so, The Divine Force at least proves that Square Enix’s sci-fi JRPG certainly deserved another shot.

Tetracast - Episode 219: All in on Tales

In this episode of the podcast, we start things off going all-in on Tales of Arise. We avoid major spoilers of course, but we chat at length on our impressions on the visuals, the battles system, the characters, and how the game is ushering in a new era for the Tales franchise. We then go into some initial impressions on the other end of the RPG spectrum with Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous, and we also go a little bit outside of our typical RPG wheelhouse with some thoughts on Life is Strange: True Colors.
